Normally, people study at school when he/she was young, and go to work be an adult, then retire after old enough, we never doubt it for thousands of years, but in my opinion, things are changing:
- Working and learning are mixing. People are doing more and more mental work, lifelong learning is necessary for more and more jobs, At one time people can learn a technique and use it in all your life, but nowadays the world progress so fast, new technique emerge and replace the old so quickly, then people have to learn all the time
- Adult full-time learning is necessary. Basic education is becoming obsolete, many techniques are necessary but need so many time and energy to learn, such as language, programming, mathematics and self-management, if you want to use them in your working and showcase high performance, you have to learn them in many years and not just by your spare time or weekend
- You don’t need to retire. If you are a brain worker and enjoy your job, you don’t need to retire until you are very old, even if your physical body is out of order, you also can use your brain through the internet, so why you have to retire? If you can earn money until you die, why you need a pension? Don’t you think it is a sadness(and waste) if one person have nothing to do when he smart and experienced?
