English is hard to learn, to Chinese, some specific parts of this language is extremely hard to learn, because of the essential differences between these two languages:
- Single and plural. Chinese don’t distinguish single and plural from spelling and pronunciation, it uses context to comprehend whether a noun is single or plural, for example, “苹果” is a noun means apple, “一个苹果” means an apple, “一些苹果” means apples
- Noun, adjective. Chinese don’t distinguish noun and adjective from spelling and pronunciation, just suffix “的” to convert a noun to an adjective, for example, the Chinese word “美丽” is a noun means beauty while “美丽的” is an adjective means beautiful.
- No adverb. Chinese don’t distinguish adjective and adverb, this means it is not necessary a part of speech called adverb
- he and she. In Chinese, he and she spell different but pronounce the same, so in oral English, Chinese people always make mistakes when they are using he and she.
- a and an, the(ðə) and the(ði). Because most Chinese characters composed of one consonant and one vowel, so no need to distinguish pronunciation even speak fast
